Singapore Sogetsu Association 2024 Annual Magazine

One of Japan’s contemporary school of Ikebana, its Singapore branch was looking at the creation of a magazine cover design for their annual charity publication. For its design, we imagined what it would be like to have synesthesia – the colours and the iridescence one may be able to see from the rustling of flowers and leaves, or the sounds they may create, in order to enhance the visual symphony we commonly see in ikebana arrangements.

The other key inspiration was Japanese graphic design from the 1990s to early 2000s. This was during the nascence of the Adobe softwares, where design outcomes of that period were a result of fabulous illustration and typography experiments.
